A hands-on workshop about the upcoming Threads of Belonging mural. Experience how textile traditions carry memory, identity, belonging, and resilience-connecting cultures and people in Sacramento.
The Threads of Belonging mural centers the Hmong “house” motif—a symbol of family, memory, and the longing for home felt across the diaspora. In this workshop, we transform rainbow colored thread into “flower cloth,” exploring the vibrant color, pattern, and texture of traditional Hmong needlework. Whether you’re new to stitching or experienced, this is a relaxed environment to learn, experiment, and connect.
