Read classic books slowly and meet to discuss the scheduled reading along the way.
The Old Curiosity Shop was originally published in serial form in Master Humphrey's Clock from April 1840 to February 1841. It was such a popular story that when the final installment arrived by ship in New York, readers famously met the ship at the dock.
The Classics Reading Group will read the book in five parts and will meet to discuss each section.
April 26: Chapters 1-12
May 10: Chapters 13-30
May 24: Chapters 31-47
June 14: Chapters 48-63, note time change 10:00 to 11:00 AM
June 28: Chapters 64-73

Located in midtown Sacramento, the Ella K. McClatchy Library is located in a converted residential building and features a gender-neutral restroom, patio with access to a self-serve bike repair station, study room, reservable meeting room, and quiet reading room. The second floor is accessible by elevator.
