Inspired by George Takei's memoir, They Called Us Enemy. Join UBG Strings for a powerful musical journey exploring themes of home, identity, resilience, and hope. One show only.

This special performance weaves together traditional Japanese melodies, film music, classical works, and contemporary favorites.

Through music and storytelling, UBG Strings illuminates the emotional landscape behind the Japanese American experience during World War II while celebrating the strength and beauty of community across cultures.

This all-ages program is part of Sacramento Public Library’s One Book / One Coast initiative.

One Book, One Coast is a shared community reading program that celebrates historical learning and reflection, encourages community conversations, and promotes civil discourse. The featured title is They Called Us Enemy by George Takei, Steven Scott, and Justin Eisinger and illustrated by Harmony Becker.
