Read classic books slowly and meet to discuss the scheduled reading along the way.
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain was published in the United States in 1885 and has been considered one of the great American novels. It is a satire that takes place in pre-Civil War South and addresses social issues like class and racism.
James by Percival Everett was awarded the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize. Published in 2024, it is a retelling of Huckleberry Finn from Jim's point of view.
We will read both novels, the original text followed by the reimagined story.
