Practice speaking English in a friendly, small group led by a trained facilitator. All levels are welcome, including Beginners.
English Conversation Group is for anyone from any language or cultural background who wants to practice speaking (and listening to) English in a welcoming, social space.
Being comfortable and confident with social, informal conversation is important even in more formal environments, such as at work or college. This is how you make positive connections with others, that can help you later, and how you make friends. Improve your confidence and fluency in English, while learning about American life and other cultures, and make community connections. Different topics and activities, often using pictures, will be used each time to keep the group interesting and interactive, for any level.
Note: This is not a “class” in the traditional sense. The facilitator is not a teacher, and there is limited direct grammar instruction, if any, with more of a focus on vocabulary and actually speaking. Other resources or referrals may be provided as needed or requested. This is a space for participants to learn by doing, by spending their time talking! The facilitator may or may not be bilingual.
