Wanna talk or rant about books with other teens? Each month we'll choose a new book to read and discuss as a group. This month's pick is the Korean dystopian thriller Snowglobe by Soyoung Park.
Book of the Month: Snowglobe by Soyoung Park
Synopsis: "The Hunger Games meets Squid Game" in this Korean dystopian thriller. (Entertainment Weekly)
In a climate-ravaged future world of constant winter, the domed city of Snowglobe is the last warm place on Earth. Outside Snowglobe is a frozen wasteland, where its citizens must face the icy world to get to their jobs at the power plant where they work tirelessly to produce the energy that keeps Snowglobe running.
On the other hand, the residents of Snowglobe live seemingly perfect lives with all the fame, fortune, and safety from the cold that those outside Snowglobe lack and desperately crave. In exchange, their lives are broadcast 24/7 to those less fortunate souls residing outside the domed city who watch voraciously and dream of one day becoming a Snowglobe actor.
Chobahm lives for the time she spends watching the shows produced inside Snowglobe, especially her favorite, Goh Around, which stars the biggest name in Snowglobe, Goh Haeri. When Haeri mysteriously dies, Chobahm is chosen to take her place, but life inside Snowglobe isn't as perfect as is shown on TV.
